Take a pre-drywall tour narrated by Stuart

If you have 18 minutes to kill, and I want stare at studs and wiring and plumbing, then sit back and enjoy a walk around my exposed house. I originally was doing this as a reference for myself, but decided to share with the bloggers.  Drywall starts any second! Enjoy!

  1. I watched every minute of the video! What is the green stuff that's on the framing? They did a great job of closing up where they had the cut-out for the fireplace. Love the arch! Who gets the first-floor bedroom? Didn't hear any creaking on the stairs! Loved the tribute to Thomas and the triangle! I hope our thermostat is in or close to the master bedroom! The toilet room is called a "water closet" ha ha! Why didn't we get to see the basement?

I typed my comment as I watched. Can you tell?

    1. Confirmed the lower half of the wood is green, it looks intentional. I'll have to ask the PM, unless anybody here knows.

    2. The green stuff on the wood is termite protection.

  2. I have to watch again now, I am not sure what you mean by green stuff. The first floor bedroom is a guest room. My family is in NY and Florida. I like how the downstairs guestroom keeps the guest isolated with a full bath and right by the kitchen. The Thomas comment wasn't planned, it just happened. No basement, just a crawl. Basements aren't common in NC, in fact I have yet to see one. I assume due to the red clay here.

  3. I see a green haze towards the bottom of the framing, which is distortion from this old camera, I'm assuming that's what your'e seeing. It was already getting dark, I'm surprised it came out as good as it did. I may try and run back tonight, they insulated today. The chance to see the guts one more time is almost gone.

  4. Watch whole video, Challenge Accepted!

Nothing like free video publicity about my triangle of empty space obsession :-)

Looks like a good thorough tour of the house. At my last house I did a video as well. This time I will also take more still pictures of each wall in each room. It may take more time to label and document them but it will be easier I believe to pinpoint the wires, outlets, pipes, etc.

  5. I just sent this to my husband. I am sure that he is going to want to do the same thing. We have a few more weeks to go before we are there!

  6. It is so strange to watch the video since my house is reverse plan. It's so familiar yet confusing at the same time. I made it through the whole video as well! I wish we had a video, but we took lots of still pictures. Our camera is on it's last legs and we've yet to replace it.

  7. They don't have to put the metal plates on every stud that has a wire running through it?

Why isn't the 'empty space' just added as a weird corner inside the closet?

  8. Code says plates to protect pipes. Don't know On the triangles. Same way in current house.
